Welcome to the website of the Irish Province of the Teresian (Discalced) Carmelite Order.

The Teresian Carmelites are a world-wide Religious Order which originated on
Mount Carmel in the Holy Land, eight hundred years ago.

The Carmelite family is made up of: Friars (priests and brothers), Contemplative Nuns,
Secular Order Carmelites and associated lay people.

This website of the friars of the Irish Province, will keep you in touch with the various branches
of the Order in Ireland and with our work and ministry.

We hope you enjoy finding out more about us and about our way of life.

For Carmelites, prayer is our essential chrism and we have a special place in our daily prayers
for all who are in any way associated with the Carmelite family.

With prayerful good wishes and every blessing.

Michael McGoldrick OCD - Provincial

Statement of the Provincials of the Order of Discalced Carmelites and the Conforti Intitute (Xaverian
Missionaries).

The Discalced Carmelites announced in May 2017 that due to shortage of personnel Tabor Carmelite Retreat Centre was closing. They immediately sought a group who would buy Tabor to continue the Christian ministry there.

We are delighted to announce today that there is an agreement in principle to sell the property to the Xaverian Missionaries. This will ensure continuity of the ethos and work of Tabor. There will be a period of transition before Tabor re-opens which will probably be early in 2018. We ask people to allow for this period of transition.
